Overview

This is what is being hailed as a Hybrid camera. It incorporates many of the features and comforts of the compact digitals that many people are familiar with, but it also has many of the same capabilities as a full sized DSLR. This camera has a number of upgraded features, and as a result of the larger CMOS and the high megapixel sensor, produces very fine photographs. The information that the options put up on the new AMOLED viewing screen can seem overwhelming; however, it is likely that they will become the gold standard of digital photography in the near future. Overall, this is an advanced camera with many great options.

Snapshots

This camera isn’t lacking in many areas of photography. The larger CMOS and the upgraded image processor, combined with all of the onboard editing options for the camera mean that it takes great photographs. However, all of this is in theory, as the camera has yet to be released in America and as a result, many of its capabilities aren’t yet known. Nevertheless, it appears that this camera will excel at even the most difficult tasks (including high speed continuous shooting). If all else fails in the continuous shot arena, it is possible to use a freeze frame and editing program on the video mode to capture those pivotal moments that are seen at thirty frames per second.

Samsung NX10 LCD

Video

Outside of the realm of standard video shooting, the NX10 offers you the ability to shoot in high definition 720p resolution at thirty frames per second. Even though this resolution isn’t 1080p as is available on many other cameras, it is still adequate for most everybody’s needs.

Photo Quality and Extras

Because the new NX10 boasts a larger CMOS sensor, you should be able to get a higher quality photograph. When you use this in tandem with the 14.6 usable megapixels, the results are an amazing clarity that isn’t often seen with midrange cameras. Overall, this camera appears to be able to stand with even the highest grade professional cameras and perform reliably.

After years in development and more than six million dollars on research, Samsung is confident that the new NX10 will lead the way to a better camera for tomorrow. In all, this camera has enough extras to please almost anyone interested in photography, and a great deal more to exceed expectations.

Samsung NX10 Flash

Downside

The most noticeable downfalls of the NX10 are the lack of 1080p video and the inability to have the user adjust the camera flash and aperture for their particular needs. This means that, although the quality is high, you cannot use this camera to take extended shots (to allow light blur or other effects that are impossible with editing).

Conclusion

In all, this camera is going to fill a much needed market for those people who prefer to use Samsung cameras. However, with all of its advancements, it’s likely that this camera will be much more expensive than many people are willing to pay. In the UK, it is currently selling for £749 with a lens package and £599 as a base model, while the pricing and release date for the USA haven’t been announced yet.
