Social Media Week Instagrams Your City

Social networking and photography are now like two peas in a pod.  Everything has been made simpler nowadays that you can take a photo wherever and whenever you can.  In celebration of everything that is social on the Web, the Social Media Week as made possible by Crowdcentric, will be conducting its 6th global event this September.  The Social Media Week is a worldwide event which explores the impact of social media to the culture and economy in every society.

For this year’s event, the Instagram Your City contest was launched which already began on May 1st and will continue until June 29 at 11:59pm ET.  The contest encourages citizens among the 14 hubs of Social Media Week to capture the beauty of the cities all over the globe which includes Berlin, London, Glasgow, Barcelona, Torino, Doha, Jeddah, Seoul, Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, Bogota, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Vancouver.

The contest will reveal photos captured through smart phones, filtered with Instagram, then tagged and shared on Twitter.  There are now more than 3,000 submitted entries on Instagram and over 600 on Twitter.

One image shall be picked in each city among the 14 hubs mentioned.  The grand prize winner will receive a trip to any SMW city they want.  This seems to be a great way celebrating both photography and social media.
