Google introduced a new feature called Photo Tours on April 25, 2012. The Google Photo Tours can take you to more than 15,000 popular landmarks all over the world. The images are all collected from travel photos uploaded to Picasa or Panaromio by random photographers.
This new feature can take you to different places and let you experience it visually with the different views provided for each destination. This Google Map feature will guide you to a 3D photo scenery the way you no single photo can ever deliver to any viewer. You might as well visually experience the each destination like you are actually there to see it with your own eyes.
The massive gallery of photos is available to sustain viewers who would like to see the most popular destinations around the globe. Google Photo Tours can be accessed on Google Maps as you try to search a popular location. The viewer can either click on the image in the left-side panel while doing a Google Map search, or click on the thumbnail image provided when browsing the map to start the photo tour.
You may be familiar with the satellite images and street views provided by Google. I do enjoy it myself especially when I am preparing for a new travel destination. And yes, the Google Photo Tours may also serve as an advantage for travelers. Well who knows? You might just have your uploaded travel photo (in Picasa or Panaromio) featured in one of the travel destinations in Google Photo Tours.
